Our Egyptian Cotton™ Accreditation Procedure
Proving Your Egyptian Cotton™ is 100% Pure
To get started with the Egyptian Cotton™ accreditation process, we would first kindly ask you to register online and download the application form. Alternatively, please email us at info@cottonegyptassociation.com to request an application form. Please complete the application form thoroughly, filling in all the fields that are applicable to your specific business. It will help if you read the Total Transparency and Traceability System documents. Depending on your business, you will need to fulfil the relevant requirements below.
If you’re a cotton trade unit…
All ALCOTEXA members are approved Egyptian Cotton Suppliers in the Egyptian Cotton Logo Supply Chain.
You will need to provide us with a quality control test report. You can send either the HVI CATGO certificate or the Moisture Testing Administration Export Cotton Conditioning certificate.
If you’re a spinning unit…
You will need to provide us with purchase invoices from all your accredited suppliers of Egyptian Cotton™ fibres. There is a simple way to find out if your supplier has Egyptian Cotton™ accreditation. All ALCOTEXA members are approved Egyptian Cotton™ suppliers in the Egyptian Cotton™ Logo supply chain for this product.
You will need to provide us with a quality control test report. You can send either the HVI CATGO certificate or the Moisture Testing Administration Export Cotton Conditioning certificate.
You will also need to send us a flow chart that demonstrates every stage of your Egyptian Cotton™ production process.
We will ask you to provide us with a totally transparent coding system that will enable us to track the Egyptian Cotton™ throughout your production process, right up until the final product. This can be a printed out report which clarifies the lot number of the Egyptian Cotton™ yarn, the lot number of production and the lot number of the finished product.
If you’re a weaving, dyeing or sewing unit…
You will need to provide us with purchase invoices from all your accredited suppliers of Egyptian Cotton™ yarn/fabric.
You will need to send us a quality control test report. This yarn/fabric test must have been conducted in an internal laboratory or third party laboratory.
You will also need to send us a flow chart that demonstrates each stage of your process involving Egyptian Cotton™.
We will ask you to provide us with a totally transparent coding system that will enable us to track the Egyptian Cotton™ throughout your production process, right up until the final product. This can be a printed out report which clarifies the lot number of the Egyptian Cotton™ yarn, the lot number of production and the lot number of the finished product.
A representative auditor will visit your premises to inspect the Egyptian Cotton™ production line, covering all spinning, weaving, dyeing and sewing units. They will withdraw the necessary samples to undergo our DNA testing procedure.
Once all your required documents have been submitted, and if the DNA test proves that the product consists of 100% Egyptian Cotton™ and has definitely been grown in Egypt, the Cotton Egypt Association will issue you with an official accreditation. We will send the accreditation to be printed twice, sign and stamp both forms and send the originals via courier to the following address:

We will kindly ask that you transfer the required fees to the Cotton Egypt Association bank account, details of which can be found in the formal accreditation document.
Once all of these steps have been completed, we shall send you via courier a signed accreditation document, your Egyptian Cotton™ Logo certificate and a document outlining correct usage of the logo. These will then activate your membership.
